The Katsimidi wildfire started inside a previous burned area in 2021, the regeneration species was almost 4 years old. It wasn’t a dense forest or high availability of fuel but from the beginning created a really quick run with a maximum ROS up to 2 km/h. The prompt and appropriate decision-making of the HFS and the quick response of the aerial resources, enabled the fire to be contained, with an area of less than 65 hectares affected.
